ACCUSATIONS ON SSA BASELESS AND MALICE

THE Sabah Shooting Association (SSA) Kota Kinabalu Branch has categorically denied allegations leveled against it by several of its disgruntled members, that its recent 10th Biennial General Meeting cum election were improper and had contravened its constitution.

Its incumbent Chairman, Lo Vun Vui described the accusations as baseless and with malice intend.

Among the alleged irregularities cited by the disgruntled group included that the said BGM cum election held on 27 March at the Lokawi Indoor Range, were conducted without a proper notice from the Central Committee, and the eligibility of the voters was not verified, thus resulting in associate/non members and members whose membership has expired were allowed to vote. The group also claimed that several of its members objected it but was not entertained by Lo.

Lo however described the allegations as well as the reports lodged with the ROS and the police as a personal attack and a desperate attempt by his rival group to oust him, especially after they failed in their bid to topple him (Lo) in the said election.

Lo and his team won with a simple majority where 111 eligible voters cast their votes.

“What crime did we commit to warren a police report. What did we do to justify a criminal investigation?.

“This is purely an act of a desperate loser. The committee may contemplate defamation action if found justified. I wonder what will happen when a false police report is being made?” he said in a rebuttal issued here today, in response to the accusations made by a group of its disgruntled members, on last Sunday.

Nonetheless, he said since reports were made to the police and ROS, the association will render its full cooperation in their investigations.

As to the threat of a report with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) by the group, Lo said the newly elected committee will render its fullest cooperation.

Lo also took a swipe at the spokesperson for the disgruntled group, Wong Siong Chew, that the latter does not have to resort to personal attacks, especially when he had only submitted his application as an ordinary member barely a month ago.

“He (Wong) only joined on the announcement of the BGM. How can he be a self-appointed spokesman?” he questioned.

He fervently maintained that the BGM and election were held and conducted in accordance with SSA’s constitution, which was approved by ROS.

Lo also denied charges that he was glorifying himself during the meeting held at the Lokawi Indoor Range on March 27, which started at 6pm.

“The various committee members including myself gave reports as required. There was no glorifying. A report of SSA performance and challenges was made. Questions were allowed and were answered.

“Accounts were presented to the floor and queries were answer and accepted.

Before handing over to scrutinizer, I did asked the floor if there were any more questions, with no further responds,” he claimed.

He also claimed to have emphasized to the floor that those non-eligible to vote should refrain from voting.

“With no further respond the committee was dissolved and scrutinizers were appointed. The scrutineers were the one in charge of the election as, once the committee is dissolved the care-taker committee does not have the power to intervene in the election,” he explained.

He continued that the scrutineers did not take any action, as there were no official objections or whatsoever during the election.

“No official protest was lodged. Not until the election result was finalized,” he noted.

“This is extraordinary that one of the signatory to the letter to R.O.S. is John Gilbert was in fact one of the scrutineers. This is clearly malicious and an intentional sabotage,” he added.

On the alleged non-completion of the agenda for the BGM, Lo said it was totally unfounded, citing that the complainants had left the meeting after the result without sitting through the remaining agenda.

The full election results are as follow:
