KAMPONGS IN MIRI IN HORRIBLE STAGE

SHAME…..The Sabah DAP team talking to the Kampong folks in Kg Api Api.

By: DAP MEDIA

SABAH DAP members visited many kampongs in the Miri area during the campaign rounds in Miri under the state constituencies of Pujut, Piasau, and Senadin which includes the Kampong Api Api, Kg Pulau Melayu, Kg.Adong, Kg Piasau, and Kg. Pujut Utara, etc.

The campaign group from Sabah DAP was really shocked by the very poor condition in the kampongs where they saw the people there are living in such a bad condition. They though the kampong folks are actually being taken care off well by the BN in Miri but it is to their surprise that they still find our fellow Malaysian still live in the condition similar to those in slump like these kampong in Miri. If hard to believe to that in a modern city like Miri, we encountered such poor place.

The houses here are all marked with the number which means that they shall be demolished by the authorities shortly. The authorities came to mark the houses every 10 years and still there is no sign of demolition.

POOR…The poor stage of the kampong environment.

They people are living in fear and still waiting for their low cost houses to be allocated. The people here had waited as long as 20 years for the low cost houses they had applied many years ago. Where is the promised houses by the BN, asked one old lady in the Kg. Api Api?

The many Kampong visited by the Sabah DAP group comprising the Kota Kinabalu Member of Parliament Hiew King Cheu, Edward Ewol Mujie, John Lee, Stephen Jimbangan, Alex Wong, Orong Sahap, and other members have the similar complaint on poor facilities and floods problem, besides there are cases of unemployment and low income.

Hiew commented that the BN had not being able to fulfill their pledges of catering for the needs of the people and the slogan ‘People first’ (Rakyat didahulukan) is really a pack of lies. This is proven by the real situation in Miri.

We cannot accept the sicken sight in the poor kampongs, therefore it is time to change and change we will expedite in Sarawak, starting from MIRI.
