RM5 MILLION GONE WITH THE WIND?

PROTES…..A bus operator showing his words of protest.

THE commuters using the Kota Kinabalu Wawasan Bus terminal again approached the KK MP to voice their dismay and anger concerning the bad stage of the bus terminal.

They said that the Minister in the Prime Minister Department Dato’ Sri Mohamad Nazri had announced and promised to provide a sum of RM5 millions for the upgrading of the Wawasan Bus terminal two years ago after he had come personally to see the condition and took a bus ride with the KK City Mayor along with his officers.

Very sadly until today there is no sign that the work on the upgrading will start and the commuters continue to bear with the hot sun, rain, bad walkways, and unsealed pavements filled with deep pot-holes and mud.

KK MP Hiew regretted that the announcement is again not being honored and the promises are not being fulfilled. The people continue to suffer and being neglected. How dare the Minister made such an empty promise to the people in Kota Kinabalu. It is just a small sum of RM5 Million and not RM50 million. Furthermore the money is deemed to be urgently required.

We just cannot understand why such a simple task cannot be resolved quickly or is it due to the bad efficiency and none effectiveness of the government? The bus terminal in Kota Kinabalu is used by thousands of people and many hundreds of buses, why it is still a piece of empty ground without any proper sheds and sealed pavement. We want to see that the bus terminal to be a modern one like other bus terminals in the Semenanjung.

WORSE….Edward Mujie and John Lee showing the bad condition of the Wawasan Bus terminal.

They have the good modern terminal why we in Sabah are having the lousiest terminal. During my visit to Johor Baru, the Larkin bus terminal there is absolutely good and well done. The commuters have very comfortable sitting arranging, good toilets, sheds to cover the boarding bays to the buses and plenty of eateries and food stores. The roads and car parks are nicely sealed with asphalt. The beautification work also nicely done with trees and flower beds.

When we compared with the bus terminal in Semananjong with our bus terminals, we definitely cannot find any good condition in the Sandakan, Lahad Datu, Tawau, and Kota Kinabalu. Are we the second class citizens of Malaysia or rather we can be set aside and forgotten about?

We demand that the government and the authorities to immediately start work to make good our bus terminals in Sabah and especially the Wawasan bus terminal without further delay. The Minister Dato’ Sri Mohamad Nazri should fulfill his promise by sending the RM5 million to get the work started, if he doesn’t want to be seen as a person who cannot keep his promise.

Hiew said the authorities are given one week to fill up all the pot holes at the bus terminal, failing to do so, DAP members will come to help them to patch up the pot holes.
