THE congested condition of the mini bus stop in Kota Belud town was brought to the attention of the Pakatan Rakyat PAS and DAP during their walk-around visit recently. The PAS Sabah assistant Commissioner Mohamad Aminuddin Aling and the Sabah DAP Vice chairman Edward Ewol Mujie visited the mini bus station in the heart of the Kota Balud town after receiving complaint from bus operators. They complained on the poor and congested condition of the bus stop which is used by many commuters daily.

The operators said that the parking space has become packed and there is no room for the increasing number of vehicles to park and waiting for the passengers. The shed there is getting old, shaky and dirty.

It is high time that the KB town council to extend this into a larger one with good sitting arrangement and shedding of the sun and rain. We feel that there is a need to relocate the mini bus stop to a better and large space with the proper roof and many parking spaces for the vehicles and mini buses. The number of passengers is on the increase and we need to upgrade to accommodate them.

Aminuddin said that he agrees with the bus operators after inspecting the mini bus stop. The small shed will definitely not be able to stop shed the passengers from the rain and sun. It is so congested and cramp, and there is no seats available for the passengers to sit down while waiting for the bus to go back to the kampongs.

No doubt that the KB council should look for a better location to build a better bus terminal to cater for the ever increasing need. The future planning must provide the facilities to cover long distance buses too, especially those from KK to Kudat.

Edward urged to improved the existing bus stop because the parking space is so limited and the shed is really too small. He said if possible the KB council should immediately provide extension and enlarge the shed to cover a bigger area and provide more sitting arrangement for the passengers.

We need to improve our facilities and not just wait for the matters to go out of hand, the KB town needs some modern facilities and don’t leave KB stagnant at the era of the 70’s. We want the town to be beautiful, clean and up dated with facilities, and it is no more a ‘cow-boy’ town.
