RECENTLY the Kota Kinabalu Member of Parliament office have received many complaints from concerned house wives who had expressed their strong protests on the cases of China dolls creating problems in their families.

Dr. Felix Chong Kat Fah, the Sabah DAP Medical Advisory Bureau Chief was asked by the KK MP Hiew King Cheu to look into this social problem which can be a very serious matter that is affecting our society.

Dr. Felix saw the serious situation himself when he silently checked on those China Dolls who are roaming the streets in KK, Kampong Air, Sinsuran and Segama, and felt that there should be some control to stop the situation of the China Dolls from spreading. He asked what is the authorities doing on this issue, are they deaf and damp.

The China Dolls are working day and night in the KK area, in groups ranging from young girls aged 18 to older woman of age 45. They are usually standing at street corners as early as 7 o’clock in the morning, and in the back lanes and some stationed in the hotels.

They are here in Sabah on short visit pass and without any form of the work permit. Their ‘Selling’ prices ranged from RM50 to RM100 depend on the age of the dolls. According to the research conversation made by the DAP members with these China Dolls, DAP found out they are working in loose groups, in person, and some are managed by agents.

Dr. Felix said these China Dolls usually have no proper medical control or holding any doctors certification that they are not VD (Venereal Decease) carriers. Many case that revealed the man usually brings home with them the deadly disease contracted from these outside women, and then later brought it home and passed on to the wife, and may be his children. The worst case is the possibility of contracting the deadly AIDS.

Dr. Felix asked why there is no action taken by the authorities on these hookers, prostitutes and even ‘Ah Qua’ who are roaming our streets in Sabah. He was told that even the police are taking money from the hookers for not arresting them.

He urges the authorities to immediately check on these complaints and take action to ensure these China Dolls are not coming here to cause disturbance to our families here. The Sabahan must be protected and safeguarded at all cost.
