STRANDED…..The street sleeper in the Kampong Air bus stop and taxi stand.

SABAH DAP Vice Chairman, Edward Muji commented that there seem to be an increasing number of street sleeping people appearing day by day in the KK City centre and he expressed his concern especially the KK folks are complaining.

The most recent case appeared in the Taxi stand and bus stop in Kampong Air where a man regularly sleeps on the bus stop sitting bench. The man has not only created a nuisance but also caused those people who are waiting for buses to feel uneasy and frighten of him if he is mentally unsound.

The ladies have to stay away because of afraid being disturbed. The man is not only dirty but very smelly too. Today is even worst because he slept with his zip open.

Edward received requests to assist to remove this man from sleeping on the bus stop and taxi stand benches. Immediately he contacted the welfare and the police department to take action through the DAP Kapayan Chief, Stephen Jimbagan.

Edward said there are few other street sleeper in the city centre who sleep on the streets pavements, under the staircases, and in the gardens. He urges the welfare department and the DBKK to work hand in hand to clear these people from the streets and settle them in the charity homes available. These people are people who needed care and the government should help them. Where is our caring society nowadays?

Edward said this is particular important that our valued tourist coming to visit us will go back to their country having a bad impression about KK City filled with ugly street sleepers. How can we boost our tourism industry?
