DAP OPPOSED ADDITIONAL SEATS.

By : DAP MEDIA

SABAH BN leaders are calling for additional seats, both state and parliamentary, to be created in Sabah. DAP Sabah State Assistant Secretary, Junz Wong does not agree with more seats because we don't have a clean and fair election system in Malaysia.

Firstly, we should respect the one man one vote system in the spirit of democracy but BN did not respect this. For example, Putrajaya with less than 10,000 voters is one parliament seat, Segambut with more than 70,000 seats is one parliament seat.

“That means every 1 vote BN gets is equivalent to 7 votes Pakatan gets. Even Pakatan gets majority popular votes, BN will still rule the nation because BN won more seats but that entirely defy the democratic spirit of one man one vote,” Junz explained.

Secondly, delineation of constituencies can only be done in the parliament with the consent of 2/3 of MPs and BN does not have 2/3 majority in Parliament.

Junz Wong, who is also DAPSY KK Youth Chief said that the move to ask for more representatives to be appointed in Sabah should be viewed as an effort by BN regime towards savaging an ending empire.

“Malaysians are at the verge of pushing for a 2-party system in the coming election thus by creating more seats in Sabah (BN self proclaimed fixed deposit state) proves my opinion,” Junz elaborated.

So no I don't agree that more electoral constitutuencies should be added here. Junz said.

State BN should bring Bersih 8 demands up instead, in the next parliament session to implement institutional electoral reforms to safeguard the interest of Malaysian voters by ensuring a clean and fair election system.

Junz rejected the equal partner theory and explained. "By ensuring Sabah more representation does not mean any recognition of Sabah equal partner status unless all agreements promised to our forefathers are delivered such as 20points agreement. Celebrate national day on 16 Sept to show true sincerity that Sabah and Sarawak are equal partners. Or do not insult the intelligence of Sabahan if otherwise."

There is one issue where the BN and Opposition leaders from Sabah can and should set their differences aside for a moment and come together as equal Sabahans for the interest of the State.

That is Sabah PTIs issue which is rampant now. No any other agenda should come before this one! Junz emphasized.

Junz said if BN implemented Bersih 8 electoral reforms, then perhaps the opposition could sit down with BN, to discuss more seat representations if there is such a need.

Without clean election system, whatever good reason BN can justify with their call, it means nothing to the people of Malaysia, Junz concluded.
