THE KAMPONG Inanam Laut dwellers in Kota Kinabalu here felt very unhappy due to the ill- treatment by the BN government demolishing their kampong houses and failed to fulfill the promises made to them.

This is due to the construction of a 50feet wide storm drain a year ago. This drain is cutting through the Kg Inanam Laut where 20 over houses were demolished to make way for the work.

The government promised some compensation money to them, and also arranged to make available some land for them to move over, but this was stopped and shelved. Until today there were no news at all, and the kampong folks here continued to suffer. Some of them have no place to stay and forced to squat with relatives and friends.

A villager, Zamri Sainin told the Sabah DAP Vice Chairman Edward Ewol Mujie who was accompanied by the Kota Kinabalu Member of Parliament Hiew King Cheu during their visit to the Kampong Inanam Laut that he faced tremendous problems because he could not find a proper place to house his family with three kids and a pregnant wife.

The family has to squat and squeezed into a 10 feet by 10 feet make swift cabin built underneath the floor of his aunt’s house. There is no kitchen and no toilet. They will have to wait until help arrived before they can move out to a proper place to live. They are not having much hope in the government to come to their rescue. He further said, what is the use being an UMNO member?

Edward viewed the situation as critical and this reflects the local BN YBs are not performing the duties and they just simply dumped the people who had supported them and voted for them to their comfortable life now.

STORM…. Half demolished houses on both side of storm drain.

Very sadly, these people are suffering due to their complete ignorance and failure to assist them. They have failed totally as the peoples’ representatives. This also reflected the bad administration of the BN government in taking care of the people, where is the ‘People First’ promise?

What we see here is a case that the people are being pushed here and there, without being given proper care and attention. The twenty over houses are demolished and the people ended up with total hardship and no way to stay.

MP Hiew expressed his deep sympathy to the people in this kampong and he told them he will try his best to seek help for them. If the BN government still takes no action on this matter, it will only be right for them to change the BN to support the PR. It is about time that we all “Tukar Manager”! The kampong folks told the MP Hiew and Edward that they have already to Tukar Manager.
