BABAGON TOKI ROAD BROKEN UP INTO PIECES

BROKEN….. Edward showing the broken up Babagon Toki road.

By : DAP MEDIA

THE HILLY road leading from the duck rearing centre in Kionsom to the Kg Babagon Toki is very bad and this is the major complaint received by the Sabah DAP Kota Kinabalu Member of Parliament Hiew King Cheu and Edward Ewol Mujie during their visit to the remote area in Kionsom Inanam.

Edward pointed out that the road here was paved with asphalt before and easy to travel on, but now it is all broken up into pieces and small vehicles cannot travel without hitting the bottom of the car. It is worst during rainy days, and the road surface is acting as the drain.

The kampong people said the authorities never come to maintain and upgrade the road, and it has been a long time that the local state assemblyman had come to visit the area and see the condition of the road.

Edward urges the authorities to come to inspect the whole stretch of the road and arrange to seal the road from the bottom to the top. The people has to use the road everyday and their vehicles is having a very high maintenance cost especially to their tyres and absorbers.

There should be a commitment from the government to see to the problems of the people here. It looks like the people here are being forgotten. There should be more branch roads to be opened up to link into the smaller kampongs in the area.

The water supply here is still depending on hill spring water which is not treated and it will run dry during draught season. The plastic pipes used by the kampong folks always faced the problem of breakage and leakage. It is about time that the government should come to lay some bigger and stronger pipe and send in treated water to the kampongs here.

The other matters were brought up by the kampong folks that they need the government to provide assistance to boost the economy in this area and to create more economic activities here for them to earn a bit more money for a better living.
