DON’T BLAME GOD FOR BN SIN

By : DAP MEDIA

THE SAD incident at Mile 7 Jalan Tuaran Inanam where a primary 2 student fell into a manhole without cover next to the main road and drown inside, who should be blamed and who should be held responsible?

This is a question where many people are interested to know about, and many had called the KK MP Hiew King Cheu concerning this particular death incident. The people expressed their anger and felt so sorry about the death of the young boy.

MP Hiew viewed the case as a total negligence on the part of the authorities to save guard the safety of the people. There are plenty of ‘death trap’ everywhere in the KK City and it is very easy to spot some just along the road.

These are the responsibilities of the government departments and the authorities concerning to ensure that the place is safe for all. Sometimes, the mistake, error, negligence, and slackness can contribute to human lives lost.

There are many examples we can highlight of, and the most recent one was the little boy being washed into the road side drain and drown at the Luyang Jalan Kolam traffic junction. The road side drain was not being cover properly.

After the accident, the authorities came and redo the whole stretch of drain and provided with full cover up. The other case was the joggers who broke his leg while he jogged along the Jalan Nossob next to the Oriental Park, and he is at the moment unable to work and seeking legal action against the authorities. There are plenty more case and everyone knew about it, but what is the authorities going to do about this?

The case in Inanam is a case where the cover has either been broken, stolen or not installed. There are many cases where steel gratings were stolen and being sold as scrap-iron, and even though the authorities had acted on this but the stealing continues and even getting worst.

Many had been stolen in the housing estate and yet the problems remain. It is becoming unbearable nowadays, if not proper action is taken we afraid the situation will become out of control one day.

The live electric cables were cut and stolen, leaving many without power supply, why is this still going on? We see that the authorities are totally helpless to handle cases like this. We urge them to act fast and we don’t want to see more lives are lost or bigger difficulties arise in our community in Sabah. Where is the ‘Safe City’, but in fact we are living in danger, and we don’t know when this will happen to us.

MP Hiew suggested the authorities to avoid using the metal gratings or steel plate because these will definitely attract thief to steal them. He said the fiber reinforced concrete (FRC) or the fiber reinforced plastic (FRP) could be a good solution to replace the metal manhole or drain covers.
