1MALAYSIA STORES SELLING ‘JUNK’ ITEM?

DAP Sabah is dissappointed that BN 1Malaysia chain stores. The stores are not only competing directly with private sectors but they are also given privilleges in the expense of the people.

Junz Wong, DAP Sabah state assistant secretary was amazed how BN government have turned a blind eye to 1Malaysia chainstores providing sub-standard products to end users.

MP Tony Pua has exposed the truth about the sub standard 1Malaysia products.

Junz quoted a few examples;

MP Pua has tested Kedai1M'sia 155g sardines tin in front of press. Only 37% fish input, below minimum requirement of 55%. It's cheap but sub standard.

Kedai1Msia Susu sejat (evaporated milk) disclosed 6% fat in nutrition label, below regulatory minimum requirement of 8%

Kedai1Msia claims 10% fat for Krimer Manis, which is minimum requirement in FoodRegulations1985. Lab test found only 9.07%.

MP Pua also showed LeeKumKee & Tesco oyster sauce contain ‘oyster extract’, Kedai1Msia oyster sauce contains just flavouring.

Most products are much cheaper than the market prices but these products are all sub standard!

Ministry Of Health : under the Food Act 1983 & Food Regulations 1985 clearly specify the standard for food requirements of various products.

Junz Wong, who is also DAPSY ApiApi youth chief asked, was there such a license whereby chain stores can produce n sell sub standard goods to consumers in the pretext of making it cheap n affordable?

Relevant authorities need to come clean with this issue-why hasn't any action been taken against 1Malaysia stores? Junz queried.

“Stop treating rakyat as fools and ‘tipu rakyat’,” Junz concluded.
