POLICE REPORT OVER INSULT OF TYT

THE HEAD of State's Aide de Camp (ADC), Major Herman Bombang, lodged a police report Tuesday against Batu Sapi PAS Chief, Hamzah Abdullah, for allegedly insulting Tun Juhar Mahiruddin and the institution of the palace. He made the police report at the Karamunsing police station here at 3.30pm.

"I was informed by a friend of mine, Amir Hamzah, on Sunday about a statement by Hamzah published in a portal known as Sabahkini.net, last month.

"Hamzah made an extremely disgraceful statement about Tun Juhar being non-Islamic like reprimanding the Head of State for not covering his right hand when shaking hands with 'non-Muhrim' people, allowing the mosques to be in poor condition, conferring state awards based on certain interests, and letting Sabah Islamic Religious Council (Muis) to be monopolised by certain quarters, among others.

"Not only that, Hamzah has ridiculed and shamed Tun Juhar for using yellow which he (Hamzah) pointed out is the colour only used by a King or Sultan.

"In light of these insults, I am lodging the police report for the relevant authorities to take firm action against Hamzah for degrading the image of the Head of State," Herman said to reporters.

Herman, who is also in charge of security and protocol manners in the Istana, said yellow has been the official colour of the Istana since the Head of State is the King's representative.

In fact, he said yellow has also been stipulated as the official colour under the Ceremonial and Protocol Department under the Chief Minister's Department here and has been used by the previous Heads of State.

He also slammed Hamzah for involving the present Head of State in his political agenda and accusing the Head of State of being a puppet to the Barisan Nasional (BN).

Hamzah was also quoted in the portal as saying that it is not appropriate for Tun Juhar to use yellow for his clothing, curtain, furniture, plates, spoons, forks and other items used in his daily routine as the position of the Head of State does not equate to a King's status.
