STAR SABAH CHAPTER NOT REGISTERED?

SARAWAK-BASED State Reform Party (STAR) which recently launched its Sabah Chapter has hit a snag as the Registrar of Societies (RoS) yesterday confirmed that the Sabah offshoot is not registered.

The RoS spokesperson who did not wished to be identified said that if any registration applications, regardless of its approval status, have been submitted, the information would appear in their system.

“No such party is registered in our system and we only have the Sarawak party in our system. If the applications have been submitted, we would have it,” she said when contacted in Putrajaya, yesterday.

The Sabah chapter, which was launched with former PKR vice-president Datuk Jeffrey Kitingan as chairman at Penampang’s Kadazandusun Cultural Hall (KDCA) with both STAR president Dr Dripin Sakoi and party founder Dr Patau Rubis officiating.

It was previously reported that the 65-year-old Dr Jeffrey heads Sabah STAR after flirting in and out of at least six political parties in the past two decades.

The maverick politician, who joined STAR ahead of the general election after failing to get his pro-tem United Borneo Front registered, described the move as “historical and ground-breaking milestone for the political landscape of Sabah, Sarawak and Malaysia.”

He said it was the right time for the political groups in Sabah and Sarawak to unite and seek to safeguard their rights under Malaysia.

“There is no better time to be assertive and persistent than now when the political situation in the country favours Sabah and Sarawak as the kingmakers.

“Sabah and Sarawak leaders should, therefore, unite and leverage their positions to resolve outstanding issues with the federal government, including restoration of the Borneo states’ lost rights and autonomy,” he said.

  9. Jangan memalukan diri sendiri JK bertindak tanpa memikirkan apa-apa yang akan menjejaskan parti STAR kemudia hari.

  10. Jeffrey should have a discussion with RoS to solve it.. if you do not solve the problem right now, I would not be surprised if STAR will not be allowed to put their candidate at the coming general elections.
