STAR WILL SIT DOWN AND DISCUSS

By : DANIEL JOHN JAMBUN

NOW that Star Sabah Chapter has been formally launched, we are activating a formal committee to talk with other East Malaysian political parties. It is Star's priority that all the opposition parties with the common interest from this part of our nation to sit down and formulate a common platform to work out a strategic alliance, in time to be presented as a better alternative to the ruling Barisan Nasional alliance.

Our Sabah chapter Chairman, Datuk Dr Jeffrey Kitingan, had in fact already been talking to SAPP President Datuk Yong Teck Lee long time even before the launching of Star in Penampang last week. Both of them already have some common grounds to start with vis-a-vis a strong opposition front facing BN, especially in Sabah.

When the right time comes, both parties will have the best chance to examine which of the arrangements would serve the state and the people best. Star has been open to sincere discussions and will lead our friends to the table for more time together, comparing notes in realising the Borneo Agenda which is best achieved through formalising a United Borneo Alliance that consists of political parties that subscribe to this idea.

We are quickly consolidating our organisation and machineries. Interests from the people of all walks of life have been quite overwhelming. I can assure Sabahans that Star Sabah Chapter will listen to the grassroots people and we shall be guided by the people's will and aspiration only.
