ADO DIED FROM CARBON MONOXIDE POISONING?

INITIAL police investigation into the death of Kota Marudu assistant district officer (ADO), Hilde Primus Peki, 43, whose remains were found in his burnt vehicle at Km 12 Tandek/Kota Marudu Road on Thursday had actually died of poisoning from carbon monoxide fumes.

Kota Marudu Police Chief, DSP Mohd Isa Yusof said based on initial findings from the pathology department, carbon monoxide fumes were found in the victim throat believed to be from the vehicle exhaust.

Police believe the victim had initially stopped his car by the roadside to rest and had fallen asleep with the engine still running.

"Police believe the victim died due to carbon monoxide fumes before the car caught fire due to an electronic short-circuit?," he said when contacted yesterday.

However, Mohd Isa said police would carry out a thorough investigation to determine the actual cause of the case.

The charred remains of Hilde Primus Peki @ Hilde P. Kayau, 43, was found at the driver’s seat of his Proton Exora (MPV) vehicle in the 4am incident.

Early police investigation at the crime scene believed the fire was caused by an electronic short-circuit. (theborneopost)
