IT'S
GOOD to be a bankable movie star. It's even better to be a bankable movie star
that headlines a box office juggernaut. Just ask Robert Downey Jr., who
reportedly bags a whopping $50 million (RM156 million) for his role as Iron Man
(a.k.a Tony Stark) in The Avengers.
That's
a bigger amount than what any of his co-star is earning. The Hollywood Reporter
cited two sources claiming that other stars, namely Chris Hemsworth (playing
Thor), Chris Evans (Captain America), Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye) and Mark Ruffalo
(The Hulk) will earn between $2 millon (RM6 million) and $3 million (RM9
million) from the superhero blockbuster. Meanwhile, Samuel L. Jackson (Nick
Fury) and Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow), will get twice of that.
So
why is Downey, 47, making so much more than his fellow A-listers on the flick?
Well, the actor has his reps to thank for, when they reportedly negotiated a
deal which enables him to get a slice of Marvel's revenue from future movies in
which he appears as the man in the iron suit, after Downey struck gold with
Iron Man in 2008.
So
how true is this? Well, the studio and Downey's rep have declined to confirm
nor deny the claims. (E! Online)
