BOYS' urine is being
collected to make medicine in China. Several schools in Nanchang of the Jiangxi
province had pails in the male toilets, where the students were asked to urine
into. Puzzled parents complained of this to the press.
"We don't known why
people are collecteing urine from schools everyday," said a father, who
only wanted to be known as Li.
According to a worker at one
of the schools, a company wanted to make medicine out of the urine.
A biochemical firm told
reporters that the urine was used to make urokinase - a medicine for
cardiovascular disease.
"In some towns, there
are companies responsible for the job. These companies collect the urine and
sell to pharmaceutical companies.
"They did it in schools
because children are generally healthier," said a staff member , who
declined to be named.
The local education
department has banned such acts due to hygiene reasons. (CNTV)
