ANIFAH: PM CARES FOR THE PEOPLE

BONGAWAN: Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Anifah Haji Aman said, the Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak is very concerned and sensitive to the needs of the people in the country, especially those living in the rural areas.

He said this in his address at the launching of the Freshwater Fish Promotion Campaign organised by the Fisheries Department, here, on Saturday.

“The Barisan Nasional (BN) government has always been working to improve the welfare and lives of the people by providing various forms of assistance and allocations,” he stated.

This is the BN way of administering the country and our prime minister has constantly reminded the elected representatives and government officers to go down to the grassroots, identify the problems faced by the people and find ways to resolve them, he stressed.

Anifah, who is also the Kimanis Member of Parliament, said that Malaysia is the only country or among the very few in the world that prioritised the people’s welfare.

“In fact, in my capacity as the foreign minister and having visited more than 120 nations, I found out that there is no government that provided all forms of assistance, basic needs, agricultural subsidies, fisheries assistance such as boats, fishing nets, engines and even housing aid,” he revealed.

“Only the Malaysian government has done that and it showed that BN leaders, particular Najib, are focused on helping the people to improve their earnings and socio-economic status,” he added.

According to Anifah, when we, as BN leaders and government officers, go down to the field, we are not fishing for votes but to carry out our duties as elected representatives of the people and to help the people.

On the part of the people, he said, they must also strive to get the maximum benefits from all the government programmes and assistance schemes.

“The ball is at your (people) feet, increase your efforts and work hard to ensure that you, your family and the community will obtain the benefits and success,” he said.

The government, he said, do not want the fishermen, farmers and their children to be left out from the mainstream of development.

On the opposition’s call for a change of government, Anifah advised the people not to gamble the future of the younger generations and that they should reject the opposition.

“We should all be united behind BN and in the coming general election, we should clean sweep the state constituencies under the P176 Kimanis,” he said to the applause of the people present.

It is not a heavy task … by the stroke of the pen, the people can determine who they want to be their leaders, and hence in this respect, I urge the people not to gamble away the future of our country and children, said Anifah.

BN government has been proven responsible and accountable unlike the opposition who are fond of telling lies and making empty promises.

He advised the people in Sabah, especially those in Kimanis, Papar and Beaufort districts not to be taken in easily by the opposition “sweet talks” as they do not have any agendas to serve the people well.

Later, he presented the Kimanis Parliamentary Agricultural Development Board (MPPP) assistance schemes to some 38 recipients from the Bongawan and Membakut area.

The assistance was in the form of seeds, fish pellets, fishing nets, fish barrels, boat and engines.

Present were the Papar District Officer, Tuan Haji Iman Ali, Fisheries Department Director, Rayner Galid, Organising chairman, Datuk Hj Ag. Sahak Pg. Salleh and Petronas representative, Ravindran.
