GBBM FORUM ON CITY LAND USE

THE FORUM as arranged by the Malaysian United Youth Movement (GBBM) on the 22nd July (Sunday) at 1.30 pm to talk about the KK City Land Use issue where they have invited a few speakers to present their views on the land use and the KK MP Hiew King Cheu was listed as one of the key speakers.

Hiew said the news published in the media was not to his knowledge, and he was not being informed and being requested to be a speaker in the GBBM forum. He at the mean while has a heavy scheduled campaign road show arranged in the interior and the west coast of Sabah together with the Sabah DAP leaders and with the DAP Malaysia Advisor Sdr Lim Kit Siang for the few days.

On Sunday, he will be in Tenom and Kemabong with the DAP team doing a series of visits and talks in the area. The preset schedule is very tight and it is no way that he will attend the forum by GBBM.

He regretted that the organizer did not seek his consent before making the arrangement and announcement. He further said that the topic on the KK land use is concerning every body and this depends very much on the vision and decision of the ruling government.

What ever decision made will reflects the outcome whereby the people interest and well being have been given due consideration and being put in the first place, or whether it is for someone’s personal gain. In many case, like the KK court house issue, it is clear that the people don’t agree to have a commercial type of project being plugged there.

They would prefer it to remain there, for the reason that it is historical and for the convenience. It is true that this is not totally a matter of the state government, because the land and the court are under the jurisdiction of the Federal government.

MP Hiew had previous said that he would like to see the court house in KK City is not to be move or demolish to make way for any commercial projects. He said in order to reduce the pressure of lacking working space in the present court houses, and he suggested that the Magistrate Court and the Session Court to be moved to a new location leaving the High Court and the Court of Appeal in the existing place.

This will serve to create more working space for all the courts and reduced the congestions of traffic. The most important thing is that the government will save a great sum of money from the people’s pocket.

As for the decision made by the state government recently in the state assembly in not allowing any application on the KK seafront land and which has been gazette as ‘state use land’. The KK MP said this is good to protect the best interest of the people, otherwise this waterfront will soon become the private property of certain people. Many people had tried to apply for the KK waterfront land before.

The GBBM forum may go on without him, and he wishes them to have a good session. (DAP Media)
