INCOMPLETE DRAINAGE SYSTEM

INCOMPLETE and dysfunctional drainage system in Sabah is a common problem faced by the public. It’s a shame that the relevant authority does not have experts in handling such cases. How can this be happening? DBKK and the selected contractors have been in around for many years now and haven’t they learnt anything?

Andrew lee, Special Assistant to MP of Kota Kinabalu received a complaint from a parent who's child is studying in St Francis Convent Primary school at Bukit Padang. The drain along Jalan SK St Francis Convent has not been maintain and its rich with vegetation that courses blockage. He was made to understand that this drain was last serviced two years ago.

There are pools of stagnant water and there are mosquito larvae detected. This poses danger to students studying at two schools nearby. This is mosquito breeding grounds. Must there be a case before the relevant authorities take action?

To make matters worse, this particular drain is link to the main drain which was constructed 3 months ago. However, the connection was not constructed and a pile of derbies was left behind from the construction of the main drain.

Why this drain construction job left half done? Don’t this contractor and the relevant authorities have an engineer of their own to study and consult on this matter?

Sabah DAP urges the relevant authorities and contractors to immediately get the job done and to ensure the drainage systems work effectively. The public interest, safety and comfort come first and it must be a primary concern.  (DAP Media)
