TAWAU: Timber
concessionaires and logging truck drivers are reminded to also consider the
safety of the people and not just think about chasing profits.
State Infrastructure
Development Assistant Minister Datuk Pang Yuk Ming said the Ministry had
received reports from the Public Work Department (PWD) and contractor of the
Kalabakan-Sapulut Road that they faced difficulty in completing the upgrading
project in time due to overloaded logging trucks using the the road.
"We have been informed
about the situation and it is worried that the life span of the road will not
be as long as it should be," he said, after inspecting the
Redevelopment/Upgrading Project of the Kalabakan-Sapulut road here.
Pang said the relevant authority
and Yayasan Sabah had agreed that each logging truck using the road must not be
overloaded but the situation still continued even though the PWD, Road
Transport Department, police and contractor have been conducting frequent road
blocks.
He said the truck drivers
could sense it whenever there is a roadblock.
"One of the ways to
ensure this would stop is to create awareness among the timber concessionaires
and truck drivers. We really hope they will abide by the load limit," he
said.
Truck drivers should be given warning not to overload their trucks as this will cause danger to the driver and other road users as well.

I think the authorities and Yayasan Sabah must give a heavier fine to those who overload their trucks so that they will pay more attention to this.

kalau terlebih muatan.. mmg akan merosakkan jalan.
ReplyDeleteJalan perlu diturap dengan tebal supaya tidak mudah retak. syarikat pemilik lori yang bawa kenderaan berat pun perlu bayar untuk penyelenggaraan jalan yang dilalui.
ReplyDeleteMungkin mengenai jalan raya ini sebab utama kenapa kerap rosak adalah disebabkan oleh pembalakkan ini. Lori yang membawa muatan yang sangat berat.
ReplyDeleteKekerapan ni akan menyebabkan jalan rosak teruk. Syarikat2 lori memang patut bertanggungjawb.
DeleteNi la yang bikin rosak jalan raya. Lebih bagus syarikat2 lori bayar road tax lebih sikit untuk peruntukan baiki jalan raya.

ReplyDeletesekatan jalanraya di Sabah patut dilakukan setiap hari terutamanya di kawasan2 yang dilalui oleh lori2 besar.. ada banyak lori2 di negeri ini yang tidak mematuhi had muatan sehingga merosakkan jalanraya..
