UMNO RANAU BACKS NAJIB AND MUSA

RANAU: The annual delegates’ meeting of Umno Ranau unanimously passed a motion supporting both Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and Datuk Seri Musa Haji Aman to continue leading Umno and government at the national and state level.

The resolution was tabled by the divisional youth wing and seconded by the wanita wing at their delegates’ meeting here yesterday.

Ranau Youth Chief, Faez Nordin commended Musa – Chief Minister and Sabah Umno Chief – for his firmness in handling government and party issues while at the same time has shown fairness to all Sabahans in terms of financial allocation and other opportunities.

He added that the Chief Minister’s prudent handling of state finances has made Sabah the best financially managed state government in Malaysia.

“This has been recognised by the Auditor General and other global rating agencies,” he said.

Faez also credited the Prime Minister for his transformation initiatives and various moves to empower the youth which has resulted in increased support for BN among the younger generation.

Ranau wanita chief, Datuk Amisah Yassin in seconding the motion said Najib has earned the support of ordinary Malaysians with his people-friendly policies and caring attitude.

“It is rare to find a very hardworking Prime Minister whose motivation to work hard is to improve the future of ordinary Malaysians, like farmers, fishermen, taxi drivers and other low-income earners” she said.

And at the state level, she said the Chief Minister too was doing an excellent job leading both the government and Umno.

Sabah, she said, has undergone tremendous development under Musa which culminated in the state’s success in attracting the highest foreign investment among all the states in 2011.

“It has beaten both Selangor and Penang,” Amisah said, adding that the current standing of the state financial reserve of RM3 billion was a further testament of good financial management by the state government under the leadership of Musa.

Earlier when opening the meeting, Ranau Umno chief, Datuk Masidi Manjun reminded Umno members to be wary of Opposition’s tactics of spreading half truths, lies and downright slanders.

“There is a difference between myth (dongeng) and fact,” he said.

Masidi who is also Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister pointed out that the people should use their wisdom and common sense to distinguish between the two.

“Rumour-mongering has become a pollitical tool of some of them in their desparation to attract the people’s attention.

“In fact some would readily hurl abuses and use other uncouth languages against government leaders just to be ‘at par’ with their fellow members in Peninsular Malaysia,” Masidi said.

And, he also reminded Umno leaders and members in Ranau to continue to uphold the Dusunic tradition of ‘beradat’, humility, mutual respect and tolerence in the face of aggressive politicking of some Opposition leaders.

“How we conduct ourselves as political leaders reflect our own upbringing and level of self respect. It defines the character and leadership quality in us,” he added.

Umno is the biggest BN component party in Ranau with 20,650 members in 212 branches.

Slightly over half of the total voters in the Ranau parliamentary constituency are registered Umno members – nearly all Dusuns.

Yesterday also saw the handing over of application forms to join Umno by 82 Opposition supporters, led by the Setia’s candidate in the 2004 general election, Roslan Sutian.

Roslan contested against Masidi in the Karanaan state seat and lost his deposit.

  14. He said the move by two state BN members of Parliament who switched to Pakatan Rakyat has not affected the stream of support for BN, especially in the lower interior areas including Beaufort, Kimanis and Sipitang.

  15. Karim noted that that people here (lower interior area) strongly support BN because they know only BN can look after their welfare.
