WHY LOCAL PAPER WRITE SHAMELESSLY?

By : AMDE SIDIK

SEE what happens when a reporter didn’t make an effort to listen carefully but write shamelessly or write first listen later!

It makes a lot of different between reading what reported by Reuters and AP alike, compare with what reported by XZY our local paper (above picture)

But here again, in order not to be completely demoralised or despised our local newspapers’ reporters, I would give credit to our Daily Express to a point though still not the best yet, a newspaper media to help speed up the understanding of politic of democracy (of course for known reason)

To Daily Express, the different does manifest publicly, for example we can’t get hold with DE after 10am in most places in Sabah whilst, outside Kota Kinabalu as soon as it touches the place.

The issue I’m talking about is about the static protest by Sabah Progressive Party (SAPP) members held yesterday at the Chong Tain Vun Park.

The main objective of the protest was to warn the authority and to inform public that enough is enough that public spaces around the city have been acquired for commercial development, in particular, for shopping complexes and hotels, alike.

SAPP members were protesting against the use of space for commercial activities, otherwise, without public spaces available, living in the city is very much like living in Alcatraz or Guantanamo.

Yet what was reported by XYZ newspaper yesterday, SAPP was protesting against the decision to move out the court complex and public library to Bukit Punai, it may not sound miles away but sure there is a different. Can anyone not see it?

Let me just expand what I think about our media (printed media) today in Sabah in particular and in Malaysia in general, if we are not careful and take the wholesome as face value, we’re like jumping down from ten storey building, meaning stupid.

We often hear too, politicians are saying no, no, its all not true the reporters were misquoted me. Well, if one has been saying all times that the reporters were all wrong and he is right, the chances are, in as far as public perception he is concerned, he is bull shitting, take my word for it.

One more point, if a reporter is making a mess all the times chances is, sooner or later he or she would be sacked.

  2. That reminds you and me to read the articles, don't just take the title at face value.
