Najib Razak and Sabah Chief Minister Musa Aman mingling with the people in
Kudat.

MORE than 10, 000 people
converged in Kudat Town to catch a glimpse of visiting Prime Minister Najib
Razak and Chief Minister of Sabah Musa Aman who accompanied him.
They arrived by helicopter
at the Kudat town padang at 9.30 am to be met by a large crowd who had gathered
to welcome him. Delighted by the warm reception Najib Razak then started his
"Jelajah Janji Ditepati walkabout" in Kudat town where he mingled
with the public and shopkeepers.
He stopped for a coffee
break at the oldest coffee shop in Kudat, the Keng Nam Tong coffee shop, with
Chinese leaders and native chiefs. On hand to have coffee with him was Fong Hon
Khiong the owner of the coffee shop.
After the stop he went to
visit Kampong Ayer where he had a meal with the kampung folks. There he had a
chance to browse through some photograph albums containing old pictures of the
131 years old kampung. Before heading to the carnival organised for the Jelajah
Janji Ditepati event he made a quick stop to look at the old mosque of Kampong
Ayer.
It was soon made known to
him that the people who live in Kampong Ayer wish that their old mosque could
be rebuilt. To Eben Abbas, 76, the mosque is like a second home.
“It would be great if our
Prime Minister can make our dream come true,” he said.
It was not long before he
learned to his delight that his dream would indeed be realised when the Prime
Minister announced that the Government would allocate RM4 million to rebuild
the mosque. (Insight Sabah)
