PRINCE PHILIP PARK OR JURASSIC PARK?

THE DAYS where it used to be an attraction to foreign tourist and among the locals are long gone. Prince Philip Park, once use to be a people friendly park and now, it's no longer. It has been neglected for more than a decade now.

Why isn't the relevant authorities taking any initiative in maintaining this much talk about and historical park which was named after Queen Elizebeth's husband and at the same time, Prince Philip was present in Kota Kinabalu at that time and was given the honors to officially declare the park opened?

Special Assistant to Kota Kinabalu MP, Andrew Lee Chee Kiong and his team carried out an inspection at the Price Philip Park upon receiving numerous complaints from the public. We were made to understand that the Prince Philip Park is under the care of DBKK.

Why isn't the park be given full attention by DBKK and safety measures are not taken into consideration? We were told that DBKK has not given any allocation by the present government to maintain the park.

Shockingly a DBKK staff from the Engineering department who was present at the site at that time, when ask about the situation, he mentioned that DBKK has not got sufficient funds to even maintain KK City, what more can they do?

It would be a very embarrassing situation if Prince William and Princess Kate got to know about this situation and for sure they will be shock and sad to find out that Prince Philip Park was named and declared open by their grandfather. Many members of the public had expressed concern and dissatisfaction over the poor maintenance by DBKK.

Numerous complaints were forwarded to DBKK by the public, however complaints landed on 'Deaf Ears'.

Defects/Problems to attend to:-
1. Collapse drains that courses blockage and bad smell.
2. To repair or replace dysfunctional walk way lights.
3. To replace damage drain slabs.
4. To repair playground facilities.
5. To improve safety measures at playground for children.
6. To repair all damage huts.
7. To clean up and maintain fish pond.
8. To provide security guards.
9. To brighten up all walk way areas.
10.To prepare more parking space for the public.

Sabah DAP urges DBKK to look into this matter seriously as this matter has been far too long "Over Due" and surely that the public deserves a much better facilities for the benefit of public to carry out family activities such as family outings, wedding photography, family days etc...
