PRIME Minister Dato' Seri
Najib Tun Razak said the government would continue to prioritize improving the
national education standard. In the 21st century the mastery of knowledge must
take centre stage, he said during a ceremony to celebrate the success of the
2012 Primary School Evaluation Test (UPSR) And Lower Secondary Assessment
Excellence Award in Pekan, Pahang.
A total 364 UPSR students
obtained 5a's and 100 PMR pupils received 100 per cent A's.
Najib acknowledged that
parents and the community at large are important factors in the nation's
educational achievements.
"The education sector
is very strategic and important. The success of a nation hinges on the
integration of knowledge, skill and innovative and creative thinking," he
said.
Moreover, the nation depends
on the competitiveness of its people in developing their talents so that they
can contribute something to the nation.
With bright minds, we can become successful and put the country ahead of
others.
"The competition in the
21st century is not only academic mastery but one that is also innovative and
creative," said Najib.
The Prime Minister also said
that parents must play a major role in helping and supporting their children to
develop talents by giving them moral support and guidance to become more
