PRIME Minister Dato' Seri Najib Tun Razak said the government would continue to prioritize improving the national education standard. In the 21st century the mastery of knowledge must take centre stage, he said during a ceremony to celebrate the success of the 2012 Primary School Evaluation Test (UPSR) And Lower Secondary Assessment Excellence Award in Pekan, Pahang.

A total 364 UPSR students obtained 5a's and 100 PMR pupils received 100 per cent A's.

Najib acknowledged that parents and the community at large are important factors in the nation's educational achievements.

"The education sector is very strategic and important. The success of a nation hinges on the integration of knowledge, skill and innovative and creative thinking," he said.

Moreover, the nation depends on the competitiveness of its people in developing their talents so that they can contribute something to the nation.  With bright minds, we can become successful and put the country ahead of others.

"The competition in the 21st century is not only academic mastery but one that is also innovative and creative," said Najib.

The Prime Minister also said that parents must play a major role in helping and supporting their children to develop talents by giving them moral support and guidance to become more successful. (Insight Sabah)
