......DEPUTY Chief Minister, Yahya Hussin recently presented aid to the poor
and disabled in Pulau Gaya.
100 MORE families falling
under the 'hardcore poor' category in the Putatan district will benefit from
the government's Nadi Kasih programme, which entitles them to receive financial
assistance for the purpose of repairing their dilapidated homes.
Deputy Chief Minister Datuk
Seri Panglima Yahya Hussin said that the assistance was in line with the
government's continuous commitment to help the needy and improve the people's
quality of life.
Yahya said this after
presenting the Nadi Kasih offer letters to eligible recipients in Putatan
yesterday.
Launched in 2011 by Prime
Minister Najib Razak, the Nadi Kasih programme through its appointed implementing
agency, 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) aims to repair 10,000 dilapidated
houses within the period of two years.
Depending on the amount of
work required, the houses will be repaired by way of community mutual help, by
contractors or through the assistance of military personnel.
1MDB will channel RM4,500 to
each of the 100 families in Putatan.
Yahya stressed that the
government has always looked after the interest of the people. This can be seen
through the various programmes that the government has implemented, which are
aimed at improving the socio-economic well being of society as a whole.
"The government focuses
on planning and carries out development programmes that propel the country and
its people forward, and at the same time help those in need," he said.
Yahya urged the people to
voice out any concerns or problems that they might have to their community
leaders or elected representatives. - Insight Sabah
