A TWO-DAY training course to impart a basic knowledge of iOS and Android applications on mobile devices was held at the Pan Pacific Sutera Hotel, Kota Kinabalu recently.
The Sabah Women Entrepreneurs & Professionals Association (SWEPA) and Sabah Computer Society (SCS) jointly organised the training with help from the Ministry of Resource Development and Information Technology.
30 women who were mainly SWEPA and SCS members attended the training course.
At the closing ceremony the Guest of Honour, Datuk Siringan Gubat, Sabah Minister of Resource Development & IT Datuk Siringan urged the participants to keep abreast of technologies and learn new things so as not get left behind. He said acquiring new knowledge is self-enriching and empowering.
Hanaa Wong Abdullah, President of SWEPA said she was proud of the success of the program and expressed hope that by being IT-savvy, women would be able to contribute more to the socio-economic development of the State.
The main aim of this training is to enable the participants to learn how to operate the latest IT applications on Tablet devices that use Android and Apple-iOS devices. In addition, it also sought to help business entrepreneurs, office workers and the public at large to be more IT-savvy, who may otherwise lag behind in today’s technologically-dependent world.
In his remarks at the certificate presentation ceremony, Kon Yuk Thiam, the President of the Sabah Computer Society said the training course was the Computer Society’s way of ‘giving back’ to society. Besides that, he also mentioned the granting of sponsorships and donations to the needy. (Insight Sabah)
