QEH 2 PARK READY BUT NOT OPEN

THE new QEH 2 hospital multi-storey car park is still not ready to open for the use of the general public. The traffic jam situation continues remain unsolved and the illegal parking by the road side outside the hospital still serious and coursed much inconvenience.

The multi-storey car park building work is ready, but it is learnt that on the part of the DBKK has not issued the OC (occupation certificate) for the building for use due to some small uncompleted work.

The Sabah DAP Medical advisory Bureau chief Dr. Felix Chong Kiat Fah said the bureau has received many complaints concerning the late open for public use of the new car parks.

He said DBKK should not wait for the completion of the minor work items but should open the car park immediately for public use. This will enable the public to avoid police and DBKK summons while parking their cars on the main road.

The contractor should also speed up their work to complete the remaining outstanding work soonest possible and to get the car park operational.

The QEH 2 is very crowded and congested due to the limited space available especially when there is a lot of cars parked every way. Sometimes the traffic jam also caused blockage to the ambulances and in out of the patients.

Dr. Felix Chong urges the Ministry of Health to pay particular attention to the situation and solve the problem at an early date.
