YESTERDAY campaign's objective is to raise awareness and a reminder that our beloved city Kota Kinabalu, a city with the population of half a million has no referral hospital for 1110 days.
The hospital building was built in 1981 at a cost of rm20mil, and after a mere 17 years after completion, it was declare unsafe by the Minister of Health Datuk Liow Tiong Lai by the end of october 2008 and it was then evacuating patients and hospital staff later that month. Services were then distributed throughout other district's hospital.
SAPP youth feels the need to urge the developer and the government to ensure that the new building's project does not fall behind schedulle like the other fly-over, roads etc. However, we launch this campaign because the hospital involves the lifes and health of our love ones.
This campaign also serves as a reminder that the government had failed to ensure that there will be a referral hospital for the 500 thousand citizen of Kota Kinabalu. Resulting the city to suffer 1110 days without hospital and hopefully only until 7 December of 2012 which was the expected date of completion announced.
Therefore this campaign, joined by the SAPP youth and public had rally all over KK and Penampang including center point, Gaya street, KK plaza, Karamunsing, Asia City, Foh Sang, Damai, Inanam, Menggatal etc, wearing our badge, fancy dressing and special make up to attract the attention of the public.
This campaign had been taking place since the 100th, 300th, 700th, 900th and now the 1110th day.
The public's response shows support during the campaign and also agree with the objective of the campaign SAPP would also like to express deepest gratitude to the public who joined and agree our struggle.
