PETALING JAYA: Opposition
leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim was visibly upset when queried over allegations
that he had a hand in the armed Sulu intrusions in Sabah.
He brushed off suggestions
that a Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) be set up for him to clear his name.
"Where are you from?
TV3? Who levelled the accusation against me? It was Umno. The people who should
answer your question is (Former Prime Minister) Tun (Dr) Mahathir
Mohamad," he told a press conference at the Parti Keadilan Rakyat headquarters
here.
Anwar claimed that Dr
Mahathir, former political secretary Tan Sri Abdul Aziz Shamsuddin and the late
Deputy Home Minister Tan Sri Megat Junid Megat Ayub, were responsible for the
task force allegedly responsible for citizenships granted to Sabah immigrants.
Anwar appeared ticked off
when a journalist asked him whether he would initiate legal action against the
Philippines Daily Inquirer, which published the reports linking him with the
Sulu armed men.
"Why do I need to sue
them? They did not mention me but the Umno-owned media accused me. If you say I
am the mastermind, I will sue you, too." (NST)
