Incumbent Dr. Roland Chia to re-confirm resignation soon.
KOTA KINABALU: PKR Sabah, it has been learnt, has already started short listing candidates for the Inanam state seat in Sabah. The Sabah chapter wants at least four or five names for the party headquarters to consider.
Activist Janine Lasimbang, reportedly proposed by Penampang MP Darell Leiking, tops the list.
Daniel John Jambun, the President of the UK-based Borneo’s Plight in Malaysia Foundation (Bopim), is another name on the list.
Another two names are under consideration but remain under wraps for the moment.
Inanam is expected to be a straight fight this time between PKR and BN. Dr. Roland Chia took Inanam last year with a majority of 3,202 votes in a three-corned fight against Eric Majimbun of SAPP and Joseph Lantip of BN.
Meanwhile, the incumbent who is believed to be in China, has confirmed via Twitter that he will re-confirm his intention to resign from the seat by the end of the month.
Chia, who is believed to have a lost a lot of weight, tweeted at 11.30 pm last night:
“To Media n Friends. Tks 4ur concern. I am currently abroad. Will make formal media statement after Christmas”,
He has also been in whatsapp groups but saying nothing significant except for glib one-liners a couple of times.
“Even without the YB here, it is still business as usual for us, as the staff go about the usual daily work according to our SOP,” said his political secretary Darren Tong in a media update.
