Clinics Without Power Generators

by : Hiew King Cheu

Most urban and sub-urban clinics in Sabah are without the installation of electric power generators. This is the recent complaints received by the Adun Luyang Office. The power generators are important during the time when there is disruption of power supply.

Using as an example, one complainant filed her complaint to the Luyang Assemblyman Hiew King Cheu saying that it was “disastrous” when the SESB cut the power supply during their maintenance round their power feeder main.

The whole Inanam clinic in Jalan Kiansom fell into darkness and all the facilities were unserviceable especially the air conditioners, and that including the medical devices. There were much upset of the patients and the cries of the babies round the clinic.

YB Hiew said this is not acceptable by today’s standard, and the Ministry of Health (MOH) especially the Health Minister must look into installing adequate electric power generator sets in all the clinics in Sabah. The people should be given better heath care, especially the sick and elderly.

The Health Minister should pay more visits to Sabah and hear out the cries of the people. He must come personally to see the actual situation, to feel the heat and stress during power failure.

We in Sabah deserve better health facilities, and the power generators are compulsory important installation. We hope the Health Ministry can supply and install this immediately.
