It is expected that the announcement made by Sabah DAP together with PKR to disassociate with PAS due to the Hudud issue. The relationship between the PR partners had turned sour, and they no longer can tolerate each other. DAP and PKR Sabah had no choice but have to do something drastic to save their political future.
The question is why only disassociate or cut the ties while PAS remains as a Pakatan Rakyat partner, not being “kick” out officially as a whole. What happen to PR without PAS? With PAS holding 15 seats in Selangor, can they continue without PAS in the Selangor state governments? Is the Pakatan Rakyat pact still valid and being recognized?
PAS should nobly pull out from the two state governments to stage their disagreement and show protest over the action taken by PKR and DAP. There is no point to hang on to the government positions in the two state governments. When they tell you to leave, you better leave, commented by the MCA Luyang Assemblyman Hiew King Cheu, when asked to comment on the issue.
Hiew said in Sabah, although PAS is a small partner compared to the DAP and PKR, and without winning a single state or Parliament seat in the past, but that doesn’t mean they are easily be dispensable. In fact, this reflected that PR really cannot be supported because the DAP and PKR couldn’t convince their partner PAS to drop the idea of implementing the Hudud law, and lastly resorted to disassociate with PAS. It will be interesting to see what will happen next in the PR.
