THE HAWKERS in the Foh Sang
hawkers morning market are furious over the design of the shed provided for the
DBKK. A site inspection had been carried out by Andrew Lee Chee Kiong, Special
Assistant to Kota Kinabalu MP Hiew King Cheu, and confirmed the ill situation
there.
We were made to understand
that the design of the shed is improper. A hawker commented that it makes no
difference when it rains and shines. The hawkers and their products will get
wet and damaged. The hawkers had numerous times brought this matter up to DBKK
officers but there is no action taken.
The hawkers are forced to
take action on their own by tying up expired banners to shed the rain and sun
shine instead. It doesn't look pleasant but they have no choice since their
complaints are not being taken up seriously. On the other hand, the Foh Sang
shop operators have also complained about those hanging "curtains or
cloths" are blocking the flow of air causing their shops to be very hot
and not enough ventilation. They said it is ugly too, because someone had hung
up a bed sheet there.
Sabah DAP urges DBKK to put
right the situation and to provide some proper shed for the sun and rain.
Andrew calls upon the mayor of Kota Kinabalu to go down to Foh Sang to have a
coffee and witness whether the "curtain" is nice or not.
