NO DIFFERENCE AFTER RENOVATION

PROBLEM…. Madam Chua voicing out the problems faced by her to Richard Yong and SAPP members.

It was observed that after a month long renovation there don’t to have any improvement to the Sembulan Market. The hawkers were asked to cease their business for one month in September this year to make way for renovation and facelift work on the Sembulan market intended to make the place cleaner and better for the hawkers and the customers.

After one month non-operation and no income, the hawkers there resumed their business only to discover that there is really little improvement made to the former condition. Only that the roofing which had no leaking problem had been replaced, a few floor tiles been laid, the dirty walls and falling paint still the same, the old sinks, the rusty metal grill also remain unchanged.

One hawker, Madam Chua expressed her displeasure to the chairman of SAPP Tanjung Aru CLC, Datuk Richard Yong about the problem faced by her after the renovation.

Madam Chua who had been running a food stall there for decades complained about the blockage of downpipe in the kitchen. She had tried many times but still couldn’t clear the blockage and there is no way to contact the contractor who had packed and left.

Madam Chua said,” I have to put on rubber boot to do the cooking in the kitchen which is really inconvenient, the money spent by the government to improve the market had gone down the drain.”

Richard said, “ It is most irresponsible that the jobs were done in such haphazard manner, the authority concerned should immediately rectify the problems and make sure that jobs has been carried out according to order,

“Sub-standard contract works had become a common thing in Sabah, this could poise danger to the public and total waste of tax payers money.
