DAP Sabah is upmost disappointed with Education Minister Muhyiddin's decision, insisting that government to reverse the policy of teaching and learning Science and Mathematics in English (PPSMI).
DAP Sabah state assistant secretary, Junz Wong, blasted Education Ministry, "it is absolute stupidity to teach the students in English from Standrad One until Form Three and then switch to Bahasa Malaysia in Form Four and Form Five."
It has been confirmed in Parliament that Students who began their Standard One in 2003 under the English stream where Science and Mathematics were taught in English are now expected to learn Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics in Bahasa Malaysia when they go to Form Four next year.
"This is unfair to our children and will jeopardize the futures of our children by sabotaging our education system!" Junz eloborated.
The ‘abrupt’ change in the ‘teaching process’ has left many parents in the wilderness. They are so worried about their children not able to cope up with the change when their studies are already stressful enough.
Junz Wong, who is also DAPSY Youth Chief, called for Education Ministry to reconsider its decision to reverse PPSMI. At least let this batch of students who started Standard One in 2003 to complete their Science and Maths in English until SPM (Form Five).
"They should just let them finish it. How can the ministry victimise this batch of students now?" Junz concluded.
