BYPL JOIN FORCES WITH BORNEO CUP

THE CHAMPION of the Borneo Youth Premier League (BYPL) 2011 Tournament, Denggiluang FC from Kg. Denggiluang Bundu in Keningau, won a staggering 5-3 against the KK Expats Football Team led by Gareth Pearson on Sunday in a friendly held at the Likas Stadium in Kota Kinabalu.

Former State champion and star player for KK Expats, Scott Ollerenshaw, also made a joint announcement with Nilakrisna James, the Founder and Patron of BYPL, that Ollerenshaw’s annual Borneo Cup tournament will join forces with the BYPL.

“I have invited the BYPL champions for this year and next year to participate in the Borneo Cup 2012 tournament. Rural teams are crucial in the development of football in this State and I recognise the efforts and quality of the players presented by the BYPL. They need to have access to qualified coaches and develop greater finesse in their skills and the exposure to the international participants of the Borneo Cup will present them with these opportunities,” said Ollerenshaw in a statement.

Nilakrisna also pledged her support to the Borneo Cup and confirms the participation of all future BYPL champions in major State tournaments. “I have pledged my commitment to support my good friend, Scott, in the organisation of the annual Borneo Cup tournament and the BYPL will do its best to identify excellent and quality rural players to participate in international State-level tournaments.

“We started off in Bingkor only this year and have since extended our reach in the interior. We will kick off the BYPL 2012 Tournament early next year and hope to have our finals by August 2012 in time to present our champions for the Borneo Cup open category,” said Nilakrisna.

KK Expats and BYPL’s Denggiluang FC are expected to hold another friendly in Keningau in January 2012 for the benefit of their Keningau supporters.
