SABAH DAP urges the BN government to lift the ban on the book ‘The Golden Son of the Kadazan’ immediately. Sabah DAP which started an online signature campaign to lift the ban on the book by the late DAP stalwart Bernard Sta Maria has attracted hundreds of petitioners. The author wrote, “dedicate to the Mojuntin family in tribute to an illustrious son of Sabah whose struggle for human dignity is a source of pride and inspiration”. The link is www.petitiononline/dap2010.
This book is about the late Datuk Peter Mojuntin a Kadazan leader from Penampang who unfortunately died in a tragic yet mysterious plane crash at Sembulan on 6th June 1976. Datuk Peter Mojuntin was and will continue to be the undisputed leader of the Kadazans.
In the book, he shared his mission and vision of and for his people. The book also talked about the man himself. His inner thoughts, his hopes and fears are clearly spelled out which make it a must read for the young generations of Kadazans and for the people of Malaysia.
The book will provide the ‘light’ which many Kadazans are looking for at this critical moment in Malaysia as we inched our way to the 47th anniversary of Malaysia Day on 16th September 2010.
It is very unfair for the BN Federal government to deprive Sabahans especially the Kadazans from possessing and reading the book. It is a book that will alo benefit the other ethnic and indigenous groups of people in Sabah, Sarawak and Malaya.
As a proponent of the petition, we will continue to raise this matter in whatever channels until the BN government is brave enough to lift the ban. Sabah DAP is however very confident that this book will hit the shelf and homes of Malaysians when the Pakatan Rakyat government is in Putrajaya.
