PITTY…. during the site inspection at the Donggogon Market and at the Mobile service at the Tamu ground, with Edward, Winnie and PR members.

THE BURNT down Donggogon market in Penampang is still having no sign of the work starting on the rebuilding in spite of the many requests by the people, hawkers and the promises made by the Penampang District Council. It is almost a year now since it was burnt down in a big fire.
The hawkers and the Donggogon people had made the request to Pakatan Rakyat representatives during their mobile service in the Tamu ground recently last week and asked for the early commencement of the rebuilding of the market in order that they can move back in to do their business there instead of selling their goods in the open air.
The Sabah DAP Vice chairman Edward Ewol Mujie, the PKR Penampang Division Woman Chief Winnie Juani and members had attended the inspection to the burnt down market. Winnie said that she sympathizes with the hawkers who are forced to sell under the hot sun and rain in order to earn a living while the authorities did nothing to help them. She said at least they can start work as soon as possible to give them an early date of moving back to sell inside the market.
Edward said this has fully demonstrated the slackness and bad efficiency of the BN government administration. A simple rebuilding of the burnt down market is taking too long for them to get it back into operation. The rebuilding work should be given a top priority because it is an essential and compulsory building.
Donggogon town is already a fast growing town with its population increased to many times compare to before. The Penamapang District Council is always being complained of its bad performance and efficiency, especially in the aspect of maintaining cleanliness of the district. There are much work to be carried out to improve its capability and work performance.
We need a good and hard working district council with a group of efficient and devoted councilors. The district officer (DO) as the chairman of the District council must spend more time in his work and getting his men to perform their respective duties in a responsible manner. The civil servant attitude must be changed in order to serve the people well.
On the part of the state government, they should provide more funding and allocation to replace the broken down garbage trucks with a new fleet of garbage trucks, because Penampang is well known of its inability to tackle the clearing of rubbish and garbage.
There should be more manpower deployed to keep the cleanliness of the town and at the same time they should have better walkway and pavement. These were some of the feed backs from the people who approached the PR mobile service in the Donggongon Tamu ground.
