DAP FLAG BEING PLANTED IN KK

PLANTED…. Edward taking down the planted DAP flag in front the KK BSN building.

By : DAP MEDIA

A DAP flag was spotted being planted in front of the BSN Building in Kota Kinabalu today by passer-by, and this was reported immediately to the Sabah DAP Vice Chairman Edward Ewol Mujie for the party’s attention.

Edward went to investigate and found the DAP flag is planted in front of the BSN Building on the walkway. He immediately took down the flag and brought it back to the DAP office in Inanam. He felt that this is purposely planted by other people to tarnish the image of the party.

Edward said this is not the culture, practice and behavior of the DAP to simply ignore and go against the laws to put up the party flags in public places. Normally the party flag is put up where there is a specific party function and event held, and it is not meant to show off as such, but just to show the location.

There are laws forbidding political party flags to be put up indiscriminately without approval and permit from the authorities in public places, especially fixed on road sign board, on round about, on pedestrian walkways, on trees and on road sides.

In Kota Kinabalu, the KK MP Hiew King Cheu has given specific instruction not to put up DAP flags unless there is a DAP or PR function held, and this can only be done so in elections.

We don’t want to be seen as a party that who abuses the laws and wants to challenge the laws. We should have high respect of the laws here. During the last DAP function held in the Putera Theatre here in Bukit Padang KK, DAP had put up some DAP flags on the round about entering into the Putera Theatre, but there came an instruction from DBKK saying that this was not permitted. MP Hiew immediately took down all the flags, and that was praised by the DBKK for the swift action taken by DAP.

DAP flags is flying high in many parts of Sabah now, especially in remote kampongs, and because those are put up by the supporters in their own houses or lands, this is acceptable because these are not put in any public places.

Edward reminds all DAP members and the supporters not to erect or put up any DAP flags in public places in the future, and should take precaution that other people may want to sabotage by quietly putting up our flags in public places like the one in the KK BSN building. If such flags are seen in public places, the DAP members should immediately take it down and report the case with photographs for an investigation to be carried out.
