PR STATUS TO ‘PATI’ IN SABAH

By: PKR MEDIA

PKR Sabah’s ‘Buku Jingga’ Sabah Chapter on the issue of ‘PATI’ and the offer of permanent resident status is not a blanket offer but subject to strict screening process and control mechanism to be recommended by Royal Commission of Inquiry to be established, said Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) Sabah Presidential Council member on Finance, Immigration and Security, Ahmad Thamrin Hj Jaini in response to the concern on the granting of permanent resident status as proposed in the ‘Buku Jingga’.

“One of Main focus of the The ‘Buku Jingga’ Sabah Chapter is that once Pakatan Rakyat forms the Pakatan Rakyat Government after the next general election, a Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) would be established to resolve the ‘PATI’ issues in the best interest of the State and its people,” Thamrin said.

“Therefore, granting of permanent resident status which can be one of the solutions to the pressing problems of ‘PATI’ is certainly not a blanket offer for permanent resident status.” He added.

“As a collective effort, PKR and Pakatan Rakyat will insist and ensure a strict screening process and control mechanism based on the recommendations of RCI knowing very well of the sensitivity and implications of the issues of great importance and public interest.

“To further reinforce and improve the agenda on ‘PATI’ in the ‘Buku Jingga’ Sabah Chapter, PKR Sabah is going to invite all Pakatan Rakyat partners and opposition parties that share a common course in resolving the ‘PATI’ issue to have a roundtable discussion to deliberate on the issues and their views, inputs, as well as their viable proposals and solutions to the problems in respect of the issues relating to RCI on ‘PATI’.

“In this common issue of great importance, PKR Sabah shall respect and incorporate the views and proposals of all those who have a genuine concern and positive stand on the issue,” Thamrin said.

  1. I'm really shocked to hear this from PKR. How could the illegal immigrants be given PR status as a solution?

  6. Don't take the easy way to solve the problem. giving them the PR status is not the best answer to this problem. even BN can do it..
