35 YEARS PUT SABAH POLICE IN JEOPARDY?

By: DAP MEDIA

THE Kota Kinabalu Member of Parliament Hiew King Cheu had submitted a Parliament question based on the poor condition of various building including the few police personnel living quarter blocks at the Kota Kinabalu Karamunsing Police headquarter here.

His question is asking the Home Affair Minister to answer whether there is any program to repair, renovate, and to upgrade the living quarters/flats where the police personnel are staying at this Karamunsing Police Complex. If yes, when will the work be started?

This question will be answered by the Minister of Home Affair on the 8th of March in Parliament.

This question is based on the various complaints received by the KK MP from the people who are working and living in the Karamunsing police complex. It is also from the observation made that the blocks of flats which were built some 35 over years ago are showing sign of bad cracks and the concrete structure are in poor condition. These flats are in need of immediate repair, renovation and upgrading.

Besides, the MP Hiew also feels that the Karamunsing Police complex is need of further improvement on the high-tech equipments, computers, and more car parks for the general public.

The old Kota Kinabalu down town traffic police headquarter is already too cramp and congested, and it is high time that the traffic police HQ is to be moved to a new location where there is wider space and plenty of car parking spaces.

The general public made the complaints to the Hiew saying that it is so difficult for them to get in there, and there is no parking space available and they wish the MP can bring up the matter to the attention of the Minister.

Hiew hopes that the Home Ministry can take immediate action and respond to the request of the people. This is important because whatever the improvement made for the police force will also bring about a better service from the police, especially in the course of fighting crime in Kota Kinabalu and providing security and safety to the general public.

  1. Construction developers should be made to follow strict rules and criteria while constructing a building. Those who do a bad job should be black listed.
