SABAH Keadilan Wanita on Thursday expressed regret over Umno Wanita Chief, Datuk Seri Shahrizat Jalil's emotional explanation on the National Feedlot Corporation (NFC) issue.
Its Chief, Juliana Jusit, said Shahrizat's outburst simply did not reflect the personality of a Muslim woman, especially on an issue related to the alleged abuse of the people's money.
She said Shahrizat also tried to drag the entire Umno Wanita into her family's scandal.
"Unfortunately, she seemed successful when the leadership and delegates of Wanita Umno vigorously defended her," she said in a statement.
After keeping quiet for so long, she said Shahrizat then turned the issue into a personal affair by making personal comments on the leadership of Keadilan including assemblymen Saifuddin Nasution, Rafizi Ramli and Zuraida.
Sabah Keadilan Wanita, she said, views the attempt by Shahrizat to connect the court case of Pakatan Rakyat de facto leader, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and also PKR President, Datin Seri Dr Wan Azizah, as having no basis at all.
The real issue, she said, is the exposure made by the National Auditor-General in his report.
Juliana said the RM250 million loan given to Shahrizat's family without any stringent repayment schedule is tantamount to wasting public funds.
The issue at hand, she said, is the abuse of public funds by Shahrizat's family in purchasing two luxury condominiums and also setting up of private companies by channelling government allocation to these companies when the money should be used for the national meat industry.
Shahrizat, she said, should realise that she has failed in her duty as a Federal Cabinet Minister.
She should immediately resign so that she stops becoming a liability to the people, Juliana said.
