SIBUGA BY-PASS VERY SLOW WORK PROGRESS

SLOW….Hiew, Edward, and Alex Wong at the site of the road project.

By: DAP MEDIA

THE work on the Sibuga by-pass road as promised by the Sabah state government during the Batu sapi by-election seems having a very slow start and work progress. The road by-pass was supposed to start in September 2010 and complete by March 2012, but what was observed on site was a sole excavator clearing the bushes and vegetation and a few lorry transporting earth out of the site. Very little work done on site can be seen, and in the true fact that there should be a whole team of machineries working on site now after 5 months of commencement on the work since September last year.

This was discovered by the Kota Kinabalu Member of Parliament Hiew King Cheu with his DAP team comprising of the Vice chairman Edward Ewol Mujie, Kudat chief Alex Wong and the other Sandakan Members during their visit to Sandakan last week. They were brought to the site by some concerned Sandakan folks from Taman Mawar.

Hiew said the multi-millions road construction project is to provide an alternative route to Taman Mawar off Jalan Sibuga, and the contractor should have enough machineries and manpower to carry out the work efficiently as the contract required, and not just one excavator on site while the contract time is running into the sixth month.

It is very disappointed to see that the various publicity being emphasized on the by-pass road during the Batu Sapi by-election and promises were made, and yet the road project is now facing a slow progress. This demonstrated the bad administration and efficiency of the BN government.

The Majlis Perbandaran Sandakan (MPS) being the owner of the project must act to impose a speedy progress on the road project and to ensure an on-time completion, so that the people can finally benefit from the alternative road to Taman Mawar to avoid the massive daily traffic jam. The people’s money must be well spent, and value worth.

  10. Next time on top of the sign board, the contractors and construction companies should put a hotline number in case the people have any queries or complaints.
