THE Kota Kinabalu Member of Parliament Hiew King Cheu today headed over 5 new Lion Heads with the complete set of drums and equipments for the Lion troupe to KK SM Kian Kok. This Lion dance troupe equipments are donated by people who wanted to help in the development of the Chinese independent middle school.

MP Hiew said the 5 new Lion heads shall be given an “eye doting/opening” ceremony when the ‘good’ day is chosen. The various donors of the Lion and equipments shall be invited to grace ceremony.

The Kian Kok Lions dance troupe was formed to raise fund for the development of the school and its building fund. The troupe is manned by the teaching staffs and the student from the secondary school. It is an all Chinese member team. Their performance on the Lion dance is well known and with high skill.

The Kian Kok principal Mr. Lim Zain on thanking the KK MP said that he appreciated very on the assistance granted to arrange the much needed new Lion Heads for the coming Chinese New Years celebration next month. He wishes to thank all the kind donors for the equipments and looking forward to meet them during the ‘Eye Doting’ ceremony soon

The principal Lim also advices and encourages those who wish to assist and donate towards the fund raising through the Lion Dance troupe to make advance booking as soon as possible with him or the SM Kian Kok school office.

Hiew in his opinion that we should be more generous to contribute to our Chinese middle school because the government is not giving all the help needed for the development of the Chinese private schools in Sabah and Malaysia as a whole. We shall have to depend very much on our own to make ends and for our future development. SM Kian Kok is a typical case and they are successful in doing so.
