ROBBING NCR LAND IN A DAY LIGHT?

By : DAP MEDIA

THE STATEMENT carried in the Free Malaysia Today web on the 8th of August 2011 reporting that the natives in Kg. Rampayan Ulu have alleged that their MP Datuk Abdul Rahman Dahlan had ‘sold’ their NCR land to a private company.

The Muslin natives known as the Iranuns claimed that Rahman had ‘supported’ a company’s bid to take over 1,200 hectares of their NCR land in the village. The people said Rahman was in the land office when the company’s was approved.

The villagers’ disclosure has shocked many quarters, who until now thought that only the Kadazan Dusun community’s right were being trampled on by companies with powerful links to the state’s power-that to-be.

“We have a copy of his letter supporting it and we found out that the MP Kota Belud was there when the district’s Land Utilization Committee (LUC) approved a plan to give the land to the company over our NCR claims”.

This case is on the table of the Chief Minister, as land matters are the state jurisdiction. We are now waiting for the CM’s action to resolve this fast, said Akim Salleh, Deputy Chairman Of A Joint Villager Action Committee, Jawatankuasa Tanah Warisan Kg. Rampayan. He said the villagers also write to the Prime Minister because it involved government leaders.

Suhakam Secretary, Jasmih Selamat on Friday assured the villagers that they will investigate into their NCR rights and the human rights of the natives there.

Self employed Akim, 54, said he was saddened by the fact that they had trusted Rahman and asked him to be the middleman to solve their problem, but Rahman did not help although he had agreed to do so. Rahman said one thing in front of us, and did different things behind us.

Akim further said that the company from Putatan has a plan for a tourism project because of the beautiful and clean beach in Rampayan. There are talks that they would take more lands in nearby kampongs like Kg. Sarang.

The assemblyman Musbah Jamli of Tempasuk has also some accusation levied against him for supporting the company in question.

Lukia was very surprised to learn from the statement uploaded in the FMT and she said how come thing like this can happen in the broad sunlight. This is not only daylight robbery but it also reflects the true color of the BN government of grabbing the NCR land from the poor kampong folks. This land grab happened all over the state of Sabah, but they said nothing happened.

The many allegations that the BN boys are grabbing the natives land is becoming a true scene in Sabah nowadays. We must stop this and an investigation must be conducted immediately.

The Sabah CM seems deft and dumb on this land issues. Is he also involved? The approval comes from him he should explain and come out to the open to face the people and not to hide behind his desk!
