THE Jalan Lebak Kupang road leading from the Kota Belud to Kota Marudu main road is in very bad shape when inspected by the Pakatan Rakyat team recently led by the PAS Sabah Commissioner Hj Mohd Aminuddin. According to the villagers here the road was not been given any maintenance since it was built some ten years ago.

The road now is nearly all broken up and many places with the bitumen top layer totally gone and leaving many deep pot holes and uneven surfaces. At one part the river is already eating into the road and leaving a big collapsed section which is endangering the road users.

This road is serving a few kampongs here and there are many villagers here. If the road is eventually cut off, it will be very difficult for them to come out to the main road.

Aminuddin urges the authorities to immediate find ways to repair the collapsed road section before any serious mishap can happen. The whole road is also needed to be resealed and make good especially on the road side drains. The bushes and grass are over growing into the road surface and this is needed to be cut.

He urges the authorities to go to inspect the various roads in the Kota Belud district and provide regular maintenance, and don’t wait until a total cut off then come to rescue.

Aminuddin said he will go round the Kota Belud area and into the various kampongs to check if things were not done properly. Someone must act, otherwise the whole Kota Belud will have more problems in the future.
