GERAKAN Sabah recently established its 18th Division with the launched of its Kudat Division on Wednesday 14 December.
It was officiated by Gerakan Sabah Chairman Datuk Gordon Leong at a luncheon reception held at the Kudat Rest House and were attended by all Barisan Nasional (BN) component leaders of Kudat.
They included OKK Tuan Haji Harun of UMNO, representatives from LDP, MCA, PBS, UPKO as well as local leaders and members of Gerakan Kudat Division.
The said new division with an initial strength of 4 branches is currently headed by Andrew Tseu Min Fah, a capable young local leader who received the Gerakan flag from Gordon in a symbolic ceremony witnessed by all those who were present, to mark the formation of Gerakan Kudat.
In the said occasion, the Party also received 250 new membership applications from Andrew to join Gerakan Kudat.
“This is a historical moment for us to celebrate as it marks the re-born of Gerakan Kudat and Kudat has always been significant to us because it was the catalyst and the birthplace of Gerakan Sabah way back in the late 1995 founded by the former elected Assemblyman of Tanjung Kapor, Datuk Kong Hong Ming,” said Gordon in a statement issued here today.
He noted that the Party has decided to set up its Division in Kudat citing an overwhelming requests from many locals community leaders there over the past two months.
“Gerakan Sabah is here to serve the people of Kudat and our leaders here will work hand-in-hand with the local community leaders to serve the people of Kudat. We will also work closely with our comrades from the BN component parties to support the candidates chosen by the top leadership, as the Barisan Nasional candidates for the state and parliament seats in the coming General Election,” stressed Gordon.
He also urged and reminded its leaders and members to walk the talk of going down to the ground to listen to the people’s plights and to do their best to assist them.
He further noted that prior to this, Gerakan Sabah also received more than 300 new membership applications at the launched to its Beaufort Division, on last Monday, at a Meet-the-People Session which was witnessed by the MP for Beaufort cum Federal Deputy Transport Minister, Datuk Seri Panglima Lajim Haji Okim.
And much earlier, on 10 December, Gerakan Sabah also saw more than 200 new members submitting their application forms to join its Putatan Division.
“It is heartening to note the overwhelming and warm responses from the people of Sabah, who are eagle to be a part of Gerakan Sabah which is a multiracial national party and we are very confident that more new branches will be set-up in the next few months,” said Gordon.
