AFTER YOU KNOCK THEIR HEAD, THEY WORK?

By: DAP MEDIA

FOLLOWING the complaint made by the Sabah DAP Kudat Chief, Alex Wong on the unhealthy and smelly state of the Kudat District garbage dumping ground along the access road into the dump site which is affecting the surrounding plantation and resident, the Kudat District council had immediately deployed an excavator to remove and clear the garbage which were dumped on and along the road sides by the general and the dump truck from the district council.

The dump site was inspected by the DAP team when accompanying the KK MP Dr. Hiew King Cheu who was making his visit in the Kudat District. They saw the excavator is busy in removing the garbage from the road approaching to the dump site and clearing the approach way to get into the garbage dump site. The condition of the road is very bad and heavy trucks find it difficult to move on the narrow road especially in this rainy season that caused the road to break up further.

Alex Wong said he hopes the council can construct or filled up the road with more gravels and stones to strengthen and to widen the road base in order that heavy trucks can gain access into the dump site proper.

The dump site can still be used further if there is proper maintenance and repair to the road. During the inspection, many outside lorries were carrying rubbish to the dump site but cannot gain entry to the dump site due to the road is packed and jammed with piles of garbage blocking the way.

Some immediate and fast action must be carried out to avoid garbage being dumped every way in the Kudat district or even on the sides of the main road. Alex Wong jokingly also said what is the use of erecting a huge notice sign board on the access road to the garbage dump telling people “don’t throw rubbish”! That is contradicting enough, while we see piles of rubbish all around the sign board, better remove the sign the sign board.
